Irizar Mexico signs a contract for 255 units and grows by 50%
On 21 April, Irizar Mexico signed a contract with the Iamsa Group transport firm to supply 255 New Century and Intercentury vehicles.
This contract is the largest ever signed by the Irizar Group subsidiary and will bring a turnover of 26.5 million American dollars.
The units will be supplied over a 14 month period and will increase Irizar Mexico’s production by 50%, with the factory manufacturing over 700 units per year. To this end, Irizar Mexico will invest nearly 2 million American dollars in its Queretaro plant, in order to expand and equip its facilities ready for this ambitious project, thereby entering a new era of production.
Furthermore, Irizar Mexico will take on an additional 80 people, to bring its consolidated workforce up to a total of 300 employees.
By placing this order, the Iamsa Group, made up by two of the most important groups in Mexico, the Toluca Group and the Flecha Amarilla Group, has demonstrated its full commitment to staying at the forefront of technology and innovation as regards its mobile fleet. We should not forget that this group is one of the largest in the world, with nearly 9,000 vehicles in its fleet.
100% of the units are destined for regular lines. This is the first time that the Iamsa Group has incorporated Irizar into this type of service, since in the past, we have only ever manufactured vehicles designed for tourist services.
This piece of good news for Irizar Mexico is in keeping with the general trend of optimism and growth enjoyed by this plant since November 2004, when the New Century was presented during the Guadalajara Fair. Response to the new model was extremely positive, and since the competition failed to present any major novelties, the growth in market share has been consistent ever since.
The units will be built over a 2-axle MAN 410 and 460 CV chassis.
